The British Countryside is full of quaint and charming place-names. Some however seem only to have been named to give schoolboys something to snigger at...

1. Badgers Mount - Kent
2. Bell End near Lickey End - Worcestershire
3. Boggy Bottom - Hertfordshire
4. Booby Dingle - Herefordshire
5. Bottom Burn - Fife
6. Breasty Haw - Lake District
7. Brown Willy - Cornwall
8. Bummers Hill - East Hertfordshire
9. Butt Hatch - Essex
10. Butty Moss - Cheshire

I think you can get creams for some of those!

Do you live near a place with a sniggersome name? Then email it to pat@thecowpat.co.uk - your mail could end up in a future Weekly Cowpat!

THIS WEEK'S COWPAT ON THE BACK

Every week The Weekly Cowpat celebrates a hero of rural life with the soon-to-be-acclaimed COWPAT ON THE BACK award.

The first award is going to Iwan Jones, one of the five farmers from North Wales who, fed up of not being able to get a date, started advertising themselves on the side of their milk bottles. The scheme has been a success.
Their website at http://www.pishyn.com/gwefan/?L=cms.calonwen received 500,000 hits in the first 20 hours, Iwan has been on a number of dates and now even Hollywood is interested in turning the farmers who want to play the field into a film.
Iwan Jones, Casanova of the cow-shed, we salute you!

We want your nominations for the COWPAT ON THE BACK. Do you know someone who has done something great for the great British countryside and deserves a COWPAT ON THE BACK? Then email us at pat@thecowpat.co.uk

We also want your nominations for countryside villains. Who deserves a COWPAT SPLAT? Email us and tell us today!

DID YOU KNOW...

Stalybridge in the foothills of the Pennines is the location of the pub with the longest name in the UK. It's called the The Old Thirteenth Cheshire Astley Volunteer Rifleman Corps Inn. Try saying that after a few local ales!
